Keeping Tabs
Second Beer Can Show - Macungie, PA.
I attended my second beer can show in Macungie, PA which was sponsered by the Horlacher Chapter of the B.C.C.A. Here inside the Macungie Park Memorial Hall were two floors of breweriana items. I did a quick walk through of both floors scanning the tables for that elusive can. Actually I have a number of elusive cans that I'm looking for. My second trip was a much slower check every can tote, beer flats, plus under and behind each table. Jay Herbein of the Keystone Chapter had a nice set up of of beer cans. I found a few of the "xxx years of brewing" cans that I needed and a couple of 16oz cans. 16oz cans have turned out to be a lot harder to come by than I though they would. Jay pointed out a variation of the International Fire Chiefs Association 2008 can. He had cans with the continents in the standard black and other cans with the continents in a much lighter grey. The light grey is probably due to the black  not being run dark enough during the printing. However there was enough of a difference for me to get one to put on my shelves. I took my acquisitions out to the car and returned with my camera to take some pics for the web site.

Good news and bad news. Good news....During my picture taking I spotted some painted cone tops with a small sprinkler head fitted into the top opening. The fellow that found them said they were used in a laundry to dampen clothes that were being ironed. He had removed some of the paint using Comet to see what was underneath. Turns out he had a couple of the white Yuengling cone tops and a few of the red with the block letters (cans C & F in our cone top section). I took one of the white cone tops to have a paint removing project during the winter. Unfortunately the red color inside the label area section appears to have faded from the rubbing with Comet. I'll have to try a different method. If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear from you.

That wasn't the bad news. Bad news....Right after I got home my son borrowed my car to run an errand . He had the windows down and the doors unlocked while he ran into the store. I hadn't removed my camera that was on the console. When he came back out the camera was gone. So no pictures of the beer can show. However I did take pics of the cone top with my wife's camera for you to see.

I'll try again to take some pictures for the web site at the Coal Cracker Chapter's show in Wilkes Barre, October 24th & 25th.
